The wedding favour dilema!
There is so much pressure on couples to plan the perfect wedding day, considering everything from the dress and the venue to the food and favours. We are also now seeing a reassuring trend towards considering the impact, both social and environmental of those decisions. On top of all of that is concerns about cost and budgets.
Your wedding day can be one of the most important occasions of your life, but you don't want to leave a harmful impact and it can be a full time job to find solutions that fit the bill. Whether you want to avoid plastic, excessive waste, where products come from and who has made them, where do you even start?
In January we met with Jennifer and Stephen who were planning their April wedding. They had picked the beautiful venue of the Tontine Hotel in Greenock, a Scottish theme, and the stunning colour purple to run through the day. Now it was time to think about wedding favours, and they wanted to choose a favour that supported a local business. It was an added bonus that they discovered Mecoco which offered the opportunity to support a local business with a huge social impact. Knowing that their wedding favours would be made by our team of disabled and non-disabled colleagues, supporting our mission to provide inclusive work experience was the icing on the cake.
There's something very special about being involved in a couple's wedding preparations so it was lovely meeting with Jennifer and Stephen a few months before their big day to discuss their requirements.
Having spent some time smelling all our different scents they chose the coconut, vanilla and bergamot tones of Seventh Heaven. It's such a beautiful scent that everyone loves. Mecoco offers both wax melt favours and candle favours, all made with our quality soy wax, hand poured in small batches and with bespoke labels.
Jennifer and Stephen decided that scented wax melts would be the best option for their day, and they appreciated the environmental aspect of us using biodegradable bags .... no plastic bags or plastic based organza. Each of the 100 bags we made for them held 2 heart shaped wax melts, in a lilac colour to match their theme.
We love to hear back from our wedding customers after their big day; Jennifer and Stephen "had the best day ever" and of their favours said, "The wax melts looked fantastic and everyone was commenting how much they liked them, you and your team did a fantastic job for us xx".
Congratulations guys and thank you for choosing Mecoco to be part of your special day.
